CWC, Digicel secure Premier League rights for new Caribbean sports venture

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) and Digicel have announced a deal with the English Premier League to broadcast live games in the Caribbean over the next three seasons via their new sports broadcasting joint venture. The company is called Caribbean Premier Sports Limited (CPSL) and the deal with England’s top-tier league encompasses all matches via live broadcasting, streaming and on-demand.

In a brief statement CWC said it would be joining forces with Digicel to introduce a brand new channel that offers a unique platform to deliver Premier League football to more customers across the region than ever before. The company added that it would provide further information on the St. Lucia-based CPSL joint venture when it goes live in H2 2019.

Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC), part of Liberty Global's Liberty Latin America unit, has reached a deal to add the CuriosityStream non-fiction channel to its TV offer. The channel has a library of over 2,400 shows and will be included in the TV Max package for customers on the Flow EVO platform, complete with digital options including replay TV and cloud recording.

Liberty LatAm acquires Curacao-based operator UTS

Liberty Latin America (LLA), the spun-off unit of Liberty Global focused on Latin America and the Caribbean, has finalised a deal to acquire 87.5 percent of Curacao-based telecommunications operator United Telecommunication Services (UTS), confirming recent reports. LLA said it acquired all the shares owned by the government of Curacao in an all cash transaction that valued UTS at USD 189 million, representing a multiple of 6 times its 2018 adjusted Ebitda.

Digicel revenues down 4% to USD 572 mln in December quarter

Flow doubles fixed broadband speed in Saint Lucia

Flow Dominica, part of Liberty Global's Liberty Latin America unit, has announced the launch of a new fixed line service dubbed 'Superfast Broadband' based on a resilient, "future proof" network built in the wake of hurricane Maria.
