Polish satellite operator Cyfrowy Polsat is offering a new HD decoder for satellite TV, the model HD 5500s, with a new and faster processor, intuitive menu, advanced functions allowing energy efficiency and touch-sensitive buttons. The new model was produced in Cyfrowy Polsat's own factory, which has so far produced 6 million decoders. One of the latest models, the HD 6000, won a SAT Kurier award in the category The Best Polish TV-Sat Product at the 2014 SAT Krak exhibition.
The model HD 5500s works on the Linux OS and is equipped with RAM 2 Gbit DDR3. The decoder allows top quality reception via the Dolby Digital Plus technology. It has a new user-friendly interface. When connected to the internet, the device accesses the biggest online TV service Ipla, and the service HBO GO. The HD 5500s is available from PLN 1 with the package Familijny HD (or higher), offering 77 thematic channels including twelve in HD.
Cyfrowy Polsat is the only operator in Poland and one of only a few globally to have its own factory for the production of decoders. Over its seven years of operation, it has produced thirteen different models. Currently, to fulfil the needs of Cyfrowy Polsat, it exclusively manufactures HD devices, including PVRs with a hard disc. It also provides services for other operators. The branded HD decoders of Cyfrowy Polsat are used by 85 percent of subscribers of the satellite platform. The whole group provides 4.3 million pay-TV contract services in total.
