Czech LTE auction raises CZK 8.53 billion
Czech regulator CTU announced it has approved the division of frequencies among the winners of the recent LTE spectrum auction. Telefonica, T-Mobile and Vodafone must now pay for the licences and then will receive access to the spectrum. The licence fees total CZK 3.113 billion for Vodafone, CZK 2.803 billion for Telefonica and CZK 2.614 billion for T-Mobile. The bulk of the payments are for frequencies in the 800 MHz band, while the operators also acquired spectrum in the 2.6 GHz and 1.8 GHz bands. In total, the auction raised CZK 8.53 billion (EUR 309 million), slightly less than the original projections of CZK 8.72 billion. The companies Revolution Mobile and Sazka Telecommunications also participated in the bidding but did not acquire any spectrum.
