Danger, provider of the award-winning hiptop Wireless Solution, announced that it has selected Intel's Tri-band GSM/GPRS Embedded Module (GEM) to enable deployment of hiptop devices worldwide. This will allow hiptop devices to operate in the three major GSM/GPRS frequencies (900, 1800 and 1900 MHz), and is expected to be available later this summer.
"Being able to launch our product to the GSM/GPRS operators worldwide is the natural evolution after our success in the US market", said Hank Nothhaft, Danger's chairman and chief executive officer. "Intel's Tri-band GEM gives us global capability, as well as the best product performance and engineering integration support we've seen in the market today. As a result, we are able to reduce our time to market by reducing the time it takes to get through regulatory and carrier approvals."
"Intel has worked closely with Danger to support the innovative hiptop design" said Taizoon Doctor, General Manager of the Wireless Wide Area Networking Module Operation at Intel Corporation. "With their recent successes in North America, we look forward to supporting Danger's worldwide efforts."
