Danish Energy Authority postpones 700 MHz, 900 MHz, 2300 MHz auction on eve, no reason given

The Danish Energy Authority has announced the postponement at the last minute of the auction for frequencies in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 2300 MHz bands. It had been due to start on 25 September. It blamed unforeseen circumstances and said it could not comment further on the reasons for now. The operators 3 Denmark, TDC and the joint Telia-Telenor network TT had all qualified for participation.

The new permits are due to enter force in 2019 and 2020.

Denmark has completed its auction of the 700, 900 and 2,300 MHz bands, raising total proceeds of DKK 2.21 billion (EUR 296 million), the Danish Energy Agency announced. All four operators won frequencies in the 700 and 900 MHz band, while market leader TDC took the available lots in the 2,300 MHz band and 700 MHz SDL range.

Telia Denmark Q3 local currency service revenue falls 7%, EBITDA almost 5%

Telia Company said that service revenues dropped by 7 percent in local currency in Denmark in the third quarter and adjusted EBITDA fell nearly 5 percent, as the Danish market remained challenging. It attracted 40,000 subscribers net to the unlimited mobile offering included in the new B2C portfolio earlier this year and said it continues to focus cost-cutting and on optimising processes to improve customer satisfaction.

3 Denmark said that it has begun taking reservations for the Razer Phone 2 and will start selling it in its shops on 26 October. The operator said it will be the exclusive Danish seller of the phone, which is aimed particularly at gamers. 3 Denmark said the first Razer Phone had sold much better than it expected, requiring it to place a new order after the very first week to re-stock.

With the auction of Sky ending a long takeover battle, a spectrum auction in Italy going into overdrive and potentially explosive regulatory news from the Netherlands, the European telecoms sector proved to be anything but dull last week. Share price performance in week 39 ranged from a loss of 8 percent to a gain of 35 percent. Our index lost 0.5 percent, performing slightly better than the EuroStoxx 50 index (-0.9%). Intelsat extended its year-to-date gain to no less than 800 percent.

3 Denmark wins Carlsberg telephony contract

3 Denmark said that the Carlsberg brewery group has selected it as its telephony services provider. Michel Carstens, director of global workplace services at the brewer, said the operator is enabling Carlsberg to stay in contact with all of its foreign branches and partners without incurring extra costs.

Danish law sets accessibility requirement for websites and apps within 3 years

The Danish Digitisation Authority said a new law came into effect on 23 September to make all public websites and applications accessible for people with disabilities and special needs within three years. This is to bring Denmark into line with EU law. The accessibility requirement is essentially the same as an existing agreement between local and regional councils and the national government, but including apps is a new feature.

The Danish Energy Agency said that is has made its final decision on the specific rules for the auctions of spectrum in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 2300 MHz bands. The 700 MHz and 900 MHz bands will be offered as blocks, to be combined in nationwide licences based on the result of the auction.

The Danish Energy Agency said it has sent draft material for the auctions of frequencies in the 700 MHz, 900 MHz and 2,300 MHz band out to consultation, with a 09 April deadline. Responses can be submitted in Danish or English.The Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate has decided to auction these frequencies in 2018 nationally, an a service and technology-neutral basis.
