DE-CIX starts exchanges at Bulk Data Center facilities in Norway and Denmark, plans Finnish ops

DE-CIX is expanding to the Nordic region by housing IX platforms at Bulk Data Center's Norwegian OS-IX and Campus N01 facilities in Oslo and Kristiansand, and at its Danish facility Campus DK01 in Esbjerg. This will provide 100 percent green-powered internet exchanges through Bulk's data centres. DE-CIX said it also plans to open IX platforms in Finland but did not name a partner there.

Ivo Ivanov, CEO of DE-CIX International, said the interconnection infrastructure in the Nordic countries does not match the digital maturity of the economy there, hence there has been strong support for DE-CIX's plans to localise its interconnection capabilities in the region.

For DE-CIX's entry to the Nordic markets, Bulk Data Centers will be the initial partner supporting DE-CIX from day one, they said. The expansion to Norway, Denmark and Finland extends the DE-CIX footprint to 32 locations worldwide with combined, connected customer capacity exceeding 85 Terabits.

Gisle M Eckhoff, EVP for data centres at Bulk Infrastructure, said the new DE-CIX Nordic locations will help to release the potential of the region. She said the partnership will enhance customers' interconnection options, with access to a range of service, and low latency to major markets combined with the "greenest, cheapest energy in Europe".
