Deutsche Telekom has no plans to sell OTE stake

Deutsche Telekom's European chief, Claudia Nemat, does not expect the company's European business to show any improvement until at least 2014. She told German paper 'Handelsblatt' that there was currently a very difficult market environment in many European markets. She said that the company had slowed down the rates at which European sales were falling by half in H1 2012, and is looking for a slight improvement in sales in 2014. She confirmed that more jobs would be cut to help achieve this target and reduce costs. She said that an agreement had been reached in Hungary with unions about 500 jobs, and that talks were ongoing in Greece. She insisted that Telekom had no plans to exit Greek subsidiary OTE, adding that the company was profitable and adding mobile phone customers.
