Dialog attempts to reassure on Apple business as share price falls further

Dialog Semiconductor has tried to reassure investors that it does not expect to lose business from Apple in the near term. The company's share price has been under pressure since reports emerged that Apple is working on its own power management chip, which could lead to less business for its usual supplier Dialog.

Dialog said in a statement that it continues to supply Apple, with no material change to their relationship. The company admitted that "Apple has the resources and capability to internally design" its own chip and "could potentially do so in the next few years". However, Dialog does not expect this to impact its business in 2018.

The company also held a conference call with analysts to discuss the matter. Since the reports first emerged of Apple's plans, Dialog's share price has fallen by around 30 percent.
