Digi acquires Invitel for EUR 140 mln

Romanian operator Digi, which listed on the capital market in Bucharest in May, has bought Hungarian operator Invitel Tavkozlesi for EUR 140 million. The takeover expands Digi's subscriber base by nearly 0.7 million. The shares were bought from China Central and Eastern Europe Investment.

Invitel posted a turnover of HUF 26 billion (EUR 85 million) and EBITDA of HUF 7.1 billion in 2016. The operator offers services to residential and small business customers, including digital television and interactive HD services, broadband internet services and fixed telephony provided through its regional networks. It's the second-largest fixed in Hungary in terms of number of residential and small business customers, with a total 691,664 RGUs at the end of May. 

The deal still requires regulatory approval before completion. Hungary is already Digi's second-largest market, with around 1.6 million RGUs at the end of March.

Digi completes acquisition of Invitel

Digi Hungary, the unit of Romania-based operator Digi, informed its shareholders that its acquisition of Invitel's shares representing in total 99.998395 percent of the share capital and voting rights of Invitel was finalised on 30 May. The completion is the result of the fulfillment of the conditions to closing provided in the share-purchase agreement signed on 21 July between the two companies. Invitel enters deal to offer Digital Welfare package

Invitel entered into an agreement with Digitalis Jolet Nonprofit on the use of the trademark of the Digital Welfare Package. This enables the operator to also offer an affordable internet service, Invitel said in a press release. Telenor Hungary is offering a similar package. Digi to get RON 956.7 mln from IPO

Digi Communications, the mother company of RCS&RDS, will manage to get RON 956.74 million (EUR 210 million) from the sale of 23.9 million class B shares at the initial public offering (IPO) on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), according to local portal News.ro. Romanian operator RCS&RDS will sell 21.74 million class B shares during its IPO in May on the Bucharest stock exchange, according to the prospectus and information provided by brokers to the local press.
