Digicel acquires Haiti's Voila
Digicel has acquired Haitian mobile operator Voila from its parent company, US-based Trilogy International. The transaction closed on 30 March. No financial details related to the transaction have been disclosed. The two companies will continue to be run separately. Voila currently serves nearly 1 million customers in Haiti, while Digicel has over 3.5 million customers on the local market.

Digicel Group is bidding for Orange's Dominican Republic unit. Digicel is one of five bidders interested in Orange Dominicana, which is expected to be sold by the end of the year, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter. According to the same source, the sale is expected to generate more than EUR 1 billion.

Digicel has completed the integration of the Voila network in Haiti. Digicel acquired Haitian mobile operator Voila from its parent company, US-based Trilogy International, in April this year. Digicel shuts down Claro network in Jamaica

Digicel has shut down the Claro network in Jamaica. Claro customers who chose to migrate to the Digicel network were able to keep their Claro number and access Digicel's offers. Digicel will shut down the Claro network in Jamaica, and is inviting Claro customers to migrate to the expanded Digicel network. Claro customers who choose to migrate to the Digicel network will be able to keep their Claro number and access Digicel's offers. Digicel plans to cut 254 jobs at Claro Jamaica. The move follows Digicel's recent acquisition of Claro Jamaica, completed in November 2011.
