Digicel Jamaica acquires Telstar's cable network
Digicel Group has reached an agreement with Telstar Cable to acquire its cable and fibre network in Jamaica, The Gleaner reports. The acquisition still needs to be approved by Jamaica's Broadcasting Commission. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. Telstar provides cable TV, broadband, and VoIP services. It is based in capital city Kingston and has a licence to operate in Portmore. Digicel said it expects to invest significant capital in the network to increase coverage and expand the products, services and content.
