Dish Sling TV additions not able to offset other losses in Q2
US pay-TV provider Dish Network said revenues for the company’s fiscal first quarter to end March slipped to USD 3.46 billion from 3.68 billion. The net profit for its first quarter declined to USD 368 million from 376 million the year before, helped by the new ASC 606 accounting standard. Diluted earnings per share went to USD 0.70 from 0.76. Sling TV subscriber numbers increased, but were not able to offset losses elsewhere.

The company ended the quarter with 10.845 million Dish TV subscribers and 2.303 million Sling TV subscribers. Total net Pay-TV subscriber numbers fell to 13.148 million from 13.528 year-on-year. This means the company lost 94,000 Pay-TV subscribers, less than the decrease of 143,000 recorded the year before. Net Dish TV subscribers declined by 185,000 while Sling TV subscribers rose by 91,000. Average monthly churn for Dish TV decreased, to 1.47 percent from 1.92. Pay-TV ARPU meanwhile slipped to USD 84.50 from 86.55.
