Dito launches unlimited mobile services offering in Philippines

Philippines operator Dito Telecommunity has announced its “welcome offer” package to celebrate its commercial launch on the local market. The offer includes unlimited data, on-net calls and on-net SMS, as well as a Dito SIM card for PHP 199 for 30 days. Customers can acquire this promo package until end-March.

Dito says the promo would be offered to Carcar, Cebu City, Consolacion, Danao, Liloan, Mandaue, Minglanilla, Naga, San Fernando, and Talisay in Cebu, and to Panabo, Tagum, Carmen, Davao City, and Digos in the Davao region.

Back in August 2020, Philippines’ House of Representatives approved a 25-year franchise renewal for Dito as the country’s third major telecom operator. The Lower House adopted a bill that approves Dito’s application for a legislative franchise to “construct, establish, install, maintain and operate wire and/or wireless telecommunications systems in the country”.

Dito earlier said it would provide average broadband speeds of 27 Mbps, and expand its service coverage to 37 percent of the country's population in its first year of operations. Dito’s service will initially be available in 15 areas in the Visayas and Mindanao. According to Dito’s chief administrative officer Adel Tamano, the operator plans to make its service available "throughout the country" by mid-2020.
