Docomo reaches over 2 mln LTE customers
NTT Docomo announced that it has reached over 2 million customers for its LTE services. Launched in December 2010, the Xi ('crossy') service reached the 1 million mark a year later. Growth has accelerated in the last three months, with the customer base doubling to 2 million by 18 March. This was helped by the introduction of the first LTE smartphones in November 2011, Docomo said.

Japan's NTT Docomo forecast stronger growth in the current fiscal year, led by demand for its LTE data services and smartphones. The mobile operator reported revenues for the fiscal year to March 2012 up 0.4 percent to JPY 4.24 trillion, with a 9.9 percent drop in voice revenues offset by 8.8 percent growth in data and 4.6 percent higher equipment sales. Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo has surpassed 60 million mobile subscribers on 11 March. The figure includes customers who subscribe to Docomo's LTE, 3G and 2G mobile services. Docomo extends LTE launch discount

Japanese operator NTT Docomo has extended launch discounts for its LTE service Xi. The discounts were scheduled to end on 30 April but will now be extended to 30 September. Subscribers to selected packet flat-rate and data service plans will automatically receive a JPY 1,050 discount on their monthly fees.
