Dtac targets 2.5 million 4G customers by end-2015

Thai mobile operator Dtac has completed its 4G rollout in Bangkok and 40 cities nationwide. The operator plans to reach 2.5 million 4G subscribers by year-end. The operator deployed over 6,700 3G and 4G base stations by end-March.

Dtac plans to continue its 3G and 4G coverage expansion across Thailand. Dtac has gradually expanded its 4G network since the beginning of 2015. Over 970,000 subscribers have experienced dtac’s 4G, representing a 9-fold increase in 4G customers since the initial launch in May 2014.

Currently, the overall average data usage of dtac users is 4.2 GB per person per month, and 1.75 million of the operator’s total subscriber base already has 4G-capable smartphones. Dtac plans to get all customers with 4G-ready smartphones to start using 4G service by end-2015.

For 2015, dtac plans to expand its 3G network to cover 95 percent of Thailand’s population. The operator also hopes to have 60 percent of its customers using internet services by December.
