Dutch consumer VoIP market reaches 1.8 mln subscribers
The number of VoIP subscriptions sold in the Dutch consumer market segment reached almost 1.8 million at the end of 2006, giving digital telephony a market share of almost 30 percent, according to the latest research from Telecompaper. KPN has shown the fastest growth in VoIP services due to higher-than-expected sales of its InternetPlusBellen service, achieving a 29.2 percent share of the market. The number of VoIP subscribers at other DSL subscribers nearly equals the telephony customers at cable operators. Meanwhile growth in mobile-only households slowed in 2006, amounting to almost 18 percent of households at the end of the year. Telecompaper expects the number of DSL-based VoIP subscriptions to surpass cable telephony subscriptions in the first quarter of 2007.
