Telephone directories will be printed for the last time in 2018 in the Netherlands, publisher DTG announced. The 45 regional editions of 'De Telefoongids' and the commercial 'Gouden Gids' will be distributed over the course of this year as the last edition.
The directories have been published for almost 140 years and are available online since 1996. The vast majority of people use the online edition, with around 3 million users per year. Only around 60,000 people are estimated to use the print editions. Special courses will be held this year to help the last users convert to online searches.
Going forward DTG will focus on its online activities and helping especially small businesses raise their profile on the internet.
