EE launches LTE-Advanced network
UK mobile operator EE has launched LTE-Advanced, raising the top speed of its network to 300 Mbps. EE will test the new network with companies in London's Tech City before a commercial launch in mid-2014. The network was unveiled by EE CEO Olaf Swantee at the Huawei Global Mobile Broadband Forum in London. Huawei is EE's equipment supplier on the 4G network. 

The new network is based on carrier aggregation, bringing together 20MHz of 1,800MHz spectrum and 20MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum. EE's user trial will start using a CAT6 Huawei router, supporting mobile Wi-Fi for up to twenty devices and speeds of up to 200 Mbps over 802.11ac. EE expects that the first commercially available mobile Wi-Fi units will be introduced by summer 2014, also by Huawei, with handsets to follow in the second half of the year.

Cross-device games company WildTangent will launch its game services on selected smartphones on the EE mobile network in the UK on 04 December, through an agreement with mobile technology company Infomedia. O2 UK has reached its 2013 4G roll-out target six weeks ahead of schedule. EE finishes Q3 with 1.2 mln 4G customers

EE added 181,000 post-paid customers in the third quarter, taking its total post-paid customer base up 5.7 percent year-on-year to 55 percent of its overall mobile customer base. EE to cut 4G investment if Ofcom ups spectrum fees

EE said it will limit investment into 4G if Ofcom carries through its plan to raise spectrum costs fourfold, the Financial Times reported. EE activates 4G service in 12 more UK towns

EE has switched on 4G in 12 more towns across the UK, with the service now available to homes and businesses in a total of 117 towns and cities.
