
The new network is based on carrier aggregation, bringing together 20MHz of 1,800MHz spectrum and 20MHz of 2.6GHz spectrum. EE's user trial will start using a CAT6 Huawei router, supporting mobile Wi-Fi for up to twenty devices and speeds of up to 200 Mbps over 802.11ac. EE expects that the first commercially available mobile Wi-Fi units will be introduced by summer 2014, also by Huawei, with handsets to follow in the second half of the year.
