Eircom appoints advisors for possible IPO
Irish operator Eircom has appointed Goldman Sachs International and Morgan Stanley International to explore strategic options for the company. These include a potential international offering and stock market listing. The former state-owned monopoly is currently controlled by its debtholders, after arranging a debt restructuring two years ago.

Eircom gets debtholders approval for restructuring

Eircom announced it has received the consent of a majority of its senior debtholders for a corporate restructuring. The proposed changes were approved by holders of 91.22 percent of the EUR 350 million in 9.25 percent notes due 2020. The changes are part of the Irish operator's ongoing strategic review and would see Eircom's holding company moved from Luxembourg to Jersey. The move is expected to facilitate a possible stock market listing of the company, the proceeds of which would be go to debt reduction.

Irish operator Eircom said results during its third quarter to end March continued to stabilise. Eircom faces fine over line faults, confusing contracts

Irish operator Eircom is facing a multi-million Euro fine for failing to fix faulty phone lines in time, reports the Irish Independent. New data from regulator ComReg shows that 1 in 4 faulty phone lines were left unfixed two days after being reported to the company. Eircom restores e-mail service after intrusion alert

Irish operator Eircom has fully restored eircom.net e-mail access following a detection intrusion on 30 April. Eircom was forced to restrict service after detecting an intrusion on the perimeter of the e-mail service. The company locked down the service to eliminate any threat to its 350,000 eircom.net e-mail users, and worked to restore the service in a controlled and phased manner. Eircom said there was no evidenced at this time to suggest any impact to other Eircom systems or services including customer.

Eircom is considering a possible listing on a public market, as part of a line of options to strengthen its financial position. The company announced the implementation of a number of amendments to its Senior Loan Facilities Agreement (SFA) and said it was also looking for new ways to strengthen its financial position. Eircom confirms billing error affects 30,000 customers

Irish phone company Eircom has confirmed that up to 30,000 customers did not have some or all of their monthly Direct Debit payments taken from their bank accounts for phone, broadband and TV service since January. Eircom reports full-year revenue down 8% to EUR 1.39 billion

Irish operator Eircom has reported revenue for the year to 30 June of EUR 1.39 billion, down by 8 percent from a year earlier, with operating costs down 6 percent to EUR 612 million. Despite these savings, EBITDA fell by 10 percent or EUR 55 million year-on-year to EUR 487 million. The total retail customer base (including fixed and mobile customers) reached 1.97 million at end-June, including 1.06 million mobile customers. A Dublin court has rejected a challenge by Hutchison Whampoa and junior lenders of Eircom to block a survival plan for the Irish operator, reports the Financial Times.
