Ericsson is implementing in cooperation with its partners a 5G ecosystem in Lodz. The city was chosen by the Polish government for 5G testing. Lodz is also home of one of the two Ericsson research and development centres in Poland.
Ericsson has designed a free test network at the campus of the Lodz University of Technology. The network will be used to test and popularise 5G applications for students.
At the same time, Ericsson signed a framework agreement on scientific cooperation with the Lodz University of Technology. It will serve to popularise projects carried out at the 5G Competence Centre, organised by the university.
The Lodz University of Technology also plans to use the infrastructure to implement its own projects, including smart campus and smart cities.
Ericsson also cooperates with the Lodz Special Economic Zone, which looks for new opportunities for economic development with a focus on Industry 4.0. A response to the future needs of industry is the S5 accelerator, where the Lodz Special Economic Zone, Ericsson, selected venture capitalists and startups will develop products based on 5G technology.
