Ericsson, Sony and Telenor Connexion collaborate on IoT tracking for medicine and logistics

Ericsson, Sony Network Communications Europe and Telenor Connexion said they are working together to develop intelligent tracking and monitoring for applications ranging from cargo to IoT medical devices for patients. The collaboration uses Telenor Connexion's network, Ericsson IoT Accelerator for global connectivity, and Sony Network Communications Europe's smart IoT services.

Use cases for Sony’s Visilion platform include the logistics and medical sectors where sensors can provide information about the current position of any item that is connected. This could be an ECG machine, hospital bed, nurse or patient. Sony's mSafety platform provides wearable devices such as a watch for use in medicine or the safety sector. Wearables can monitor users and provide information such as body temperature and heart rate, track location and send alert notifications in case of an emergency.

The Ericsson IoT Acclerator connectivity and device management platform provides enterprises with a unified system that manages IoT operations of any scale, using worldwide mobile network infrastructure. More than 35 service providers in over 100 countries are currently involved. The platform enables connectivity management of IoT devices to more than 5,000 enterprises globally. It supports more than 50 million devices with over 3 million eSIMs.

Mats Lundquist, CEO of Telenor Connexion, said the firm is proud to be a long-term partner of such forward-thinking companies and to support their business growth and future IoT products and services.
