Ericsson to cut 1,550 jobs in Sweden

Ericsson has announced plans to cut 1,550 jobs in its home country Sweden. Aimed at reducing costs, the job cuts will cover nearly all its sites in Sweden and all areas, including sales, general and administration, research and development, supply and service delivery. In absolute numbers, the majority of the reductions are in Ericsson's Networks unit.

At the end of September, Ericsson employed 17,768 people in Sweden. The largest cut will come in Stockholm, where 1,000 of the 10,800 jobs will go. Other planned redundancies include Boras (40 positions), Gothenburg - Lindholmen and Molndal (approx 200), Karlskrona (50), Kumla (106), Linkoping (120), Lulea (10), Lund (15) and Malmo (13). Ericsson did not say how much the restructuring is expected to cost.

Ericsson completes job cuts in Sweden

Ericsson completed its planned reduction of operations in Sweden which was announced to employees on 07 November 2012. Employees were informed about a change in operations, which also included a reduction of positions covering all job areas, including sales, general and administration, R&D, supply and service delivery. In Sweden, Ericsson reduced its operations by 1,399 positions by adapting the organisation in cooperation with the unions. This has resulted in 919 employees being given notice.

Ericsson paying up to EUR 12 mln for Devoteam - report

Ericsson's acquisition of French IT services company Devoteam's telecom and media division is estimated to cost it EUR 10-12 million, La Tribune reports. The unit Ericsson is purchasing generates EUR 35-40 million of turnover and employs 400 specialised staff in Levallois-Perret, Rennes and Lannion. Ericsson France CEO Franck Bouetard told La Tribune that the transaction is expected to close at the start of the second quarter, and will boost the company's headcount to 1,400.

Ericsson said it has passed the 2 billion mark in the number of worldwide subscriptions served by its charging and billing services. Ericsson to cut 100 R&D jobs in Ireland

Ericsson plans to cut 100 jobs at its R&D facility in Athlone, County Westmeath, in Ireland, reports the Press Association (PA).
