Ericsson is to launch WCDMA/EDGE functionality on its mobile platforms. Furthermore, the company will launch WCDMA/EDGE mobile phones under the SonyEricsson brand before the end of this year, according to spokesman of Ericsson. The company will launch HSDPA phones in 2006. In addition to WCDMA/EDGE, Wi-Fi will also be incorporated in the new mobile platforms and phones. With the increasing number of operators that support EDGE and WCDMA, the market is asking for more devices that support both networks.
