Ericsson unveils new IoT Accelerator platforms, marketplace

Ericsson has taken advantage of its appearance at the Hannover Messe trade fair to unveil IoT Accelerator, a new offering combining Internet of Things-focused platforms, services and a marketplace. The IoT platforms' features include data management, billing, device management, connectivity services and analytics, with planned expansion modules including a self-service portal, developer environment and software development kit. IoT Accelerator will include support for NB-IoT, LTE Cat-M1 and EC-GSM-IoT technologies for low power wide area applications, said Ericsson, adding that its complete portfolio of services will also be offered.

The marketplace included in the offering is designed to help customers from sectors such as public safety, utilities, transport and smart cities connect with partners and monetise their solutions. The repository of apps will allow companies to develop solutions in close cooperation with ecosystem partners and make them available to their own customers if they wish. Ericsson will also help customers with regional business labs to execute global capabilities locally. The IoT Accelerator offering will be launched globally at the end of the third quarter.
