Indian operator Reliance Communications (RCom) has signed an eight-year managed services agreement with Ericsson worth USD 1 billion. The contract will see Ericsson operate and manage the fixed and mobile networks in the Northern and Western states of India and take responsibility for field maintenance, network operations and operational planning of Reliance's 2G, CDMA and 3G mobile networks. The contract includes minimum service level requirements. Ericsson will also work with Reliance Communications to identify opportunities to introduce new services and expand its existing businesses.
