Ex-Vodacom CEO Knott-Craig may head Cell C - report

Former Vodacom South Africa CEO Alan Knott-Craig is in talks with mobile operator Cell C about the company's future and a possible 'rescue plan' for the company, MyBroadband News reports. According to the news portal, a source close to Cell C said that Knott-Craig may be interested in taking over as Cell C CEO from 1 April 2012 (after his Vodacom restraint of trade contract ends on 31 March 2012), as long as the company can assure him sufficient budget to execute his plans. Cell C has been without a permanent CEO since former chief executive Lars Reichelt left the company in July. Cell C chairman Simon Duffy has been serving as acting CEO since Reichelt's departure. Other reports say Knott-Craig is in discussions to facilitate an investment in the company which will give the operator more funds. Neither Cell C not Knott-Craig would however confirm or deny these rumours. Cell C merely said that they do not comment on speculation or rumour. Knott-Craig could not immediately be reached for comment.
