Exa, Socar to deploy Red Sea terrestrial fibre route
Exa Infrastructure has partnered with Socar Fiber to develop a new terrestrial fibre optic route designed to provide diversity to the traditional Red Sea corridor used by submarine cables. The new 1850km route will span Turkiye, between Greece and Georgia, and contemplates further construction towards the Iraq border to provide connectivity into the Gulf region.

Exa Infrastructure revenues grow to almost EUR 350 mln in 2023, EBITDA margin above 50%

European fibre network operator Exa Infrastructure reported revenues of EUR 347.9 million for the year 2023, growing by 7.5 percent year-on-year, while its operating loss decreased by 25 percent to EUR 81.5 million, according to the annual report of its owner Cube Telecom Holdings recently deposited at UK's Companies House. The ultimate owner is I Squared Capital that acquired the network assets from GTT Communications in 2021.

Exa launches Managed Fibre Network service in Europe

Exa Infrastructure announced the launch of its Managed Fibre Network (MFN) service. The European operator said the new service is designed to address market demands for increased connectivity and shorter service delivery times for fibre connections. It provides a turn-key solution that outsources the design, installation and maintenance of fibre networks for customers who do not possess these capabilities in-house or in-region.

Exa Infrastructure has signed a partnership deal with Avant Communications, a technology distribution company based in Chicago. Under the contract, Exa's fibre networks, transatlantic cable systems, and low-latency connectivity systems will become available in Avant's portfolio of IT services.

Exa Infrastructure announced a new contract to provide backbone services to US-based operator Macarne, an IP Transit specialist.The partnership will enable Macarne to scale its IP transit offering and provide its customers with fast and reliable services across the Atlantic via diverse connections. Exa provides onward connectivity to major hubs around Europe, including Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

Exa to acquire Bulgaria's Global Communications Net, expand assets in South-Eastern Europe

Exa Infrastructure has agreed to acquire Global Communication Net (GCN), a Bulgarian telecoms company offering services on its own national fibre-optic network of over 2,500 km. Via this acquisition, Exa Infrastructure seeks to expand its strategic assets in South-Eastern Europe. No financial details related to the acquisition have been disclosed.

London-based Exa Infrastructure said it has opened a new landing station in Genoa to boost its European cable offer. The expansion of its existing network facility in Genoa to a fully open Cable Landing Station (CLS) is above all designed to serve the future requirements of new subsea cables landing in the Italian port, said Exa.

Hong Kong operator HGC Global Communications (HGC) has teamed up with Exa Infrastructure, the network operator connecting Europe to North America. This partnership is expected to enable connectivity to Exa's fibre infrastructure network. HGC will be able to leverage Exa's backbone network and access hundreds of data centres across Europe and North America supporting HGC's customers to extend their reach beyond Asia.

Telecom Egypt and Exa Infrastructure team up on intercontinental transit services

Telecom Egypt and Exa Infrastructure announced a partnership to work together on East-to-West traffic flows entering the Mediterranean. Under the partnership, Exa Infrastructure becomes a "one-stop shop" for traffic from the Middle East and Asia into Europe, combining multi-route services and protected capacity from Egypt via Telecom Egypt's infrastructure with hundreds of endpoints in Europe and North America.
