Facebook tests Facebook at Work apps
Facebook has started a new app aimed at expanding the social network's footprint to the workplace. Facebook at Work is now available for iOS and Android devices, for users who have created a Facebook account via their employer. The app provides a news feed with what's happening at the company, allows users to create and join groups to collaborate with colleagues, and supports chats with one or more co-workers or contacts. The employer creates the main account, and the employees can then join. They can keep their work account separate or also link with it their personal Facebook account.

Lars Rasmussen, the engineering director at Facebook who is heading up the project, said the app was already being tested by a number of external companies. The aim initially will be companies with 100 or more employees, he told TechCrunch in an interview. It's still unclear how Facebook will monetise the work platform, as for now, no ads are displayed on the service. Rasmussen said it could later become a paid service.
