FAS to impose new fines on Google

Russian federal competition regulator FAS plans to periodically impose new fines on Google, every two weeks, if the company delays implementing the regulator's decision, reports Prime citing FAS head Igor Artemyev. The measure will be taken until the final court decision on the issue.

FAS said that Google had violated competition law by restricting the pre-installion of mobile applications from other companies on Android smartphones sold in Russia. A fine of RUB 438 million fine was imposed on the company in August.

Google has appealed the decision.

Google repeats appeal against Russian fine

The Moscow Arbitrage Court announced that the third appeal submitted to the court against the decision from the competition regulator FAS by Google repeats the company's second claim, reports Prime. The second appeal, submitted on 26 August, claimed that the RUB 438 million fine imposed by the watchdog on Google was groundless. The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service has issued a fine of RUB 438 million (USD 6.8 million) against Google for abusing its dominant position in the Android smartphone market.
