Fastweb to invest EUR 400 million in fibre by 2016
Italian broadband operator Fastweb will invest EUR 400 million to expand its next-generation access network to 20 percent of Italian households and companies by the end of 2016. Fastweb already covers around 2 million premises with its FTTH network and plans to spend EUR 130 million by end-2013 to expand its FTTS (fibre to the street cabinet) network. The FTTS technology offers speeds of up to 100 Mbps and in future, up to 400 Mbps. The investment plans were announced by Fastweb's parent company Swisscom; the Swiss company said it would not affect its dividend plans.

Fastweb applies for EUR 300 mln EIB loan

Italian operator Fastweb has applied for a EUR 300 million loan from the European Investment Bank to help finance the expansion of its broadband nework. Fastweb last year announced plans to spend EUR 400 million to expand its fibre broadband services to cover 20 percent of the Italian population by the end of 2014. The EIB is currently considering the loan, which is part of a bigger financing package worth EUR 750 million to cover work until the end of 2015.

Fastweb FY revenues stable, EBITDA rises 11%

Italian broadband operator Fastweb posted net revenue of EUR 1.61 billion for 2012, up 0.5 percent on a like-for-like basis. EBITDA rose by 11.1 percent to EUR 500 million, helped by a reduction in losses on receivables and measures to reduce costs. Fastweb denies sale plan by Swisscom

Fastweb has defined as "groundless" press reports that Swisscom is planning to sell the Italian broadband subsidiary. In an interview with Italian daily La Stampa, COO Alberto Calcagno said that "this is not an issue on the agenda of our shareholders, especially in the wake of such an important investment", referring to recent announcements to invest in fibre development in Italy. He added that it would be "counterintuititive" to think of selling Fastweb.

Fastweb and Sky Italia have relaunched their Home Pack offers, combining pay-TV, telephony and broadband. Among the new offers are Home Pack Full, aimed at families and including access to Sky Italia channels, 100 Mbps internet over fibre or 20 Mbps over ADSL, unlimited calls to national fixed numbers and 60 minutes of calls to mobile phones. Fastweb revenues down 2.5% in H1, EBITDA improves

Italian broadband operator Fastweb's net revenue fell by 2.5 percent year-on-year to EUR 853 million in the first half of 2012. The fall was due to lower wholesale revenue from hubbing; excluding this, sales rose 0.1 percent to EUR 798 million.
