FCC looks to modernise rules governing 2.5 GHz EBS spectrum

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is thinking of updating the framework for licensing Educational Broadband Service (EBS) spectrum in the 2.5 GHz band. The FCC wants to modernise rules for this spectrum, saying it currently lies fallow across one-half of the US, mainly in rural areas. Access to the spectrum has also been limited since 1995, with current licenses subjected to outdated regulations.
