FCC opens up part of 900 MHz for new broadband applications

The US Federal Communications Commission has adopted a new plan to open up the 900 MHz band to new applications in critical communications. While the band is currently reserved for narrowband land mobile radio, the FCC wants to make 6 MHz of the low-band spectrum available for new wireless broadband services.
