Fifth of EU residents use cloud storage services
A fifth of EU residents use cloud data storage, according to figures from the EU statistics office, Eurostat. Eleven percent of these people pay for storage space online, and the remainder use free services. Across the EU, use of cloud storage ranges for 42 percent of Danes to 8 percent of people in Lithuania, Poland and Romania.

The Eurostat figures comes from a broader survey on use of internet services in the EU. Almost two-thirds (65%) of EU residents use the internet daily, up from less than a third in 2006. In the same period the share of EU residents who had never used the internet fell from 43 to 18 percent.

Denmark is again the country with the highest daily internet use, at 87 percent of the population, while Romania ranked last with 32 percent. The two countries also represented the extremes of those who have never used internet, at 3 percent of Danes and 39 percent of Romanians.
