Forthnet targets positive EBITDA in H2

Greek ISP Forthnet has unveiled plans to focus more on unbundled customers, in an effort to turn EBITDA positive by the second half of this year. The company passed the milestone of 100,000 LLU customers this month, after adding 34,000 in the fourth quarter alone. Forthnet said 72 percent of its LLU customers take its 2Play package, generating monthly ARPU of EUR 45.5. Overall, the group has 210,000 broadband customers at the end of February, up from 101,000 at the end of 2006. Revenues for Q4 rose 32 percent from a year earlier to EUR 33.4 million, while the pretax loss increased slightly to EUR 8.9 million from EUR 8.1 million. Capex for the year rose to EUR 64.3 million from EUR 36.0 million in 2006, led by a jump in Q4 to EUR 30.4 million. The company finished the year with EUR 56.1 million in cash, plus undrawn credit lines. Forthnet is operating 151 exchanges, giving 65 percent local loop coverage, and has extended its fibre backbone to 320 km. The company plans to increasingly focus on LLU, moving away from wholesale and CPS.
