Fortinet buys Israeli cybersecurity firm EnSilo

Fortinet said it has completed the acquisition of Israeli cybersecurity company enSilo. No financial details were disclosed but the acquisition was believed to be for tens of “millions of dollars”, Globes reported.

EnSilo has raised USD 57 million to date, including a USD 23 million financing round in July led by Rembrandt venture partners. Other investors include OG Tech Ventures, Viola, Lightspeed and Carmel.

With offices in Herzliya and San Francisco, enSilo was founded in 2014 by CEO Roy Katmor, CTO Udi Yavo, VP research Tomer Bitton, and VP engineering Ido Kelson. In July, EnSilo had 86 employees, including 50 in Israel.

EnSilo's information protection platform safeguards end user stations and stops malicious attacks in real time before they occur and while they are taking place, while reducing the time it takes to detect an event and hedging the response costs in the event of an attack. The acquisition further enhances the Fortinet Security Fabric and strengthens Fortinet’s endpoint and network security portfolio.

Fortinet intends to offer customers additional security effectiveness through the integration of enSilo’s endpoint detection and response (EDR) technology with Fortinet’s FortiSIEM product, FortiInsight UEBA (user entity behavior analytics) features, and FortiNAC. Enterprises will gain superior endpoint visibility and tightly coordinated, dynamic control of network, user, and host activity within their environment, the company said. Likewise, managed service providers will be able to deliver a comprehensive and efficient managed detection and response service.

EnSilo was already a Fortinet Security Fabric-ready partner prior to the acquisition.
