France to delay 5G spectrum auction until March 2020 – report

France’s forthcoming 5G spectrum auction could be delayed by several months, reports Reuters citing two unnamed sources close to the matter. The country’s telecom regulator and the finance ministry have yet to resolve disagreements over the spectrum floor price and the exact size of blocks in the bidding process. As a result, the auction could be postponed until at least March 2020, three months later than expected.

In the planned two-part tender process, French operators will be able to apply for an initial chunk of spectrum at a fixed price and will then participate in an auction for the rest. The floor price will be close to EUR 1.5 billion, one of the sources told Reuters.
