French govt launches call for projects to support 5G-enabled innovation

The French government has announced its latest initiative to fund the development of 5G use cases, as part of the country’s EUR 100 billion stimulus plan unveiled last year to support economic recovery. Out of this total, EUR 120 million has been earmarked specifically for the telecom sector, with a third already allocated to nine projects focused on 5G-enabled industrial applications. With this new call for projects, the government is expanding the scope of its efforts in social and environmental innovation. Candidates are invited to ask for funding by partnering with local authorities across a wide range of fields where 5G can make a difference and improve daily life.

Among the areas of interest, this latest call for projects will consider smart applications in agriculture, health and education, IoT deployments that help manage natural resources such as water, and new connected platforms that increase road safety and improve transport.
