The number of 5G cell sites emitting a signal across mainland France increased by 1,130 during September for a total of 18,689 as of 01 October, according to spectrum agency ANFR. This number includes antennas in or ready for commercial service, and represents 64 percent of the overall tower footprint on which network operators have already obtained a permit to roll out 5G services (29,327 sites). The agency has so far authorised 5G installations on existing mobile towers used for 2G/3G/4G services, with the exception of three cell sites.
