French networks end June with over 15,300 5G cell sites in or ready for service

The number of 5G cell sites emitting a signal across mainland France increased by 1,059 in June to reach 15,343 as of 01 July, according to spectrum agency ANFR. This total covers antennas in or ready for commercial service, and accounts for 59 percent of the overall tower footprint on which network operators have so far obtained a permit to roll out 5G services (26,084 sites). With the exception of two cell sites, the agency has so far authorised 5G installations on existing mobile towers already in used for 2G/3G/4G services.
