French operators sign 3G mobile network sharing agreement
French mobile network operators Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom have signed a framework agreement for sharing 3G network installations based on April 2009 guidelines set out by regulator Arcep applying the law on modernising the economy. The sharing agreement will make it possible to extend 3G coverage more easily and quickly in some 3,600 municipalities across the country covered in the "2G dead zones" programme and another 300 locations. National coverage is due to be completed by the end of 2013. The operators will discuss the terms under which the country's fourth mobile network licence holder, Free Mobile, can be included in the agreement before the end of May.
