French telecom operators continued to focus on FTTH network deployment in 2018 and their increased spending was reflected in a new record level of investment for the overall sector. According to Arcep's latest annual report, EUR 9.8 billion was spent across the year when excluding the costs associated with the acquisition of mobile spectrum. This represents an annual increase of EUR 200 million, down from the rise of EUR 660 million recorded in 2017.
