German smart speaker users grow to 8.6 million in 2018

Around 8.6 million people in Germany (over 10% of the population) used a smart speaker in 2018, according to the latest research of eMarketer. The penetration has gone gone up from 5.2 percent, or 4.3 million people, in 2017. eMarketer estimates that in 2019 the smart speaker base will grow to 11.7 million or 14.2 percent of the population, and in 2020 reach 13.3 million, which equals 16.3 percent of the population.
