Global IPTV subscribers to grow to 111.5 mln in 2014 - study

The number of global IPTV subscribers will grow from 44 million at the end of 2010 to 111.5 million in 2014, a CAGR of 26 percent, according to a study by MRG. The forecast shows that Europe will be the regional leader, with 42 percent of the worldwide IPTV subscribers total in 2014, maintaining its lead mostly because of the number of large Tier-1 service providers, and because of continued strong IPTV growth in some countries. Overall, the service revenue forecast for the global IPTV market is USD 17.8 billion in 2010 and is forecasted to grow to USD 47.9 billion in 2014, a CAGR of 28 percent, a 1 percent CAGR increase since the last report. By 2014, Europe and North America will generate a larger share of the global revenue, due to very low ARPUs in Asia. The global forecast for all six IPTV system segments (plus System Integration) required to support IPTV services grows from USD 3.4 billion in 2010 to USD 5.7 billion in 2014, yielding a CAGR of 13.5 percent, which is a 0.7 percent CAGR increase since the last report.
