Global smartphone shipments down 2.3% YoY in Q2 but rise sequentially - IDC

Thursday 1 August 2019 | 10:42 CET | News
Worldwide smartphone shipments fell another 2.3 percent year on year in the second quarter of 2019, an improvement on the 6.6 percent slump posted in the first 3 months of the year, according to preliminary data from IDC. Smartphone vendors shipped a total of 333.2 million phones, up 6.5 percent over the previous quarter, with the sequential pick-up attributed in part to vastly improved mid-tier devices offering premium designs and features for relatively low prices, combined with generous trade-in programmes across major markets.
