Globe to launch 5G services in Makati and BGC
Philippines operator Globe Telecom has announced plans to commercially launch 5G services for Globe Postpaid and Platinum subscribers in select locations in Makati and BGC. The service will be gradually expanded to more areas across Philippines, as well as to prepay users towards the end of this year. 

To access Globe’s 5G service, customers will need a 5G-enabled mobile phone. With the  Huawei Nova 7 SE, the latest addition to Globe’s 5G capable devices, customers can access 5G services with ThePLAN 1499. This plan includes a monthly allowance of 10GB for data traffic, unlimited calls to Globe/TM subscribers, unlimited SMS and 100 minutes for voice calls to all networks.

Globe customers can also buy other 5G devices bundled with a Globe postpaid plan such as the Huawei P40, Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G and Samsung S20 Ultra. Subscribers who have these 5G enabled phones will not be charged any additional fees when connecting to the 5G network. Current Globe LTE SIMs are already 5G-enabled and they can join the network immediately, Globe said.

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has expanded its 5G coverage to 17 key cities in Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao. The 17 cities that are now covered by Globe's 5G network are Bacolod, Boracay, Iloilo, Talisay, Lapu-Lapu, Cordova, Minglanilla, and Cebu City in Visayas; as well as Davao City and Cagayan De Oro in Mindanao.

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has expanded its 5G network coverage to more areas in Metro Manila and nearby locations. Philippines operator Globe has announced it is making its current LTE SIM cards future-proof to automatically work with 5G and receive 5G signals. Globe and TM customers will not be charged additional fees for these 5G-ready SIMs. Globe is offering a suite of 5G-ready devices bundled with a postpaid plan to enable its customers to take up the upgraded connection.

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has launched its Better Days, Better Deals promotion. Customers can now buy new phones with a Globe Postpaid plan for a starting price of PHP 599 per month. A new line-up of Globe Prepaid devices also come with 20 percent discount; while Globe At Home offers free shipping of broadband device kits.

Globe to expand 5G network to more Platinum, postpaid customers in coming weeks

Philippines operator Globe Telecom plans to expand its 5G service in key areas in the metropolis, specifically in the Makati and Bonifacio Global City Central of Business Districts (CBDs). After introducing its 5G service to select Platinum customers last February this year, Globe is expected to make the service available to more Platinum and Postpaid mobile customers who are within 5G coverage areas in the coming weeks.

Philippines' Globe completes 5G video call with AIS Thailand

Philippines operator Globe Telecom has completed its first 5G video call with AIS Thailand through its 5G Mobile Network. Globe says the conversation lasted more than three minutes and was made recently after Globe received the technical call from AIS when the mobile operator tested its own 5G network in Bangkok on 21 February.

Globe powers UnionBank's first 5G-based smart branch

Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) has selected Globe Business to launch a smart branch that uses 5G services for connectivity with IoT-enabled services. In partnership with Globe Business, the enterprise arm of Philippines operator Globe Telecom, UnionBank deployed 5G-grade connectivity at its Dasmarinas, Cavite branch, the first of its ARK 2.0 branches. Philippines operator Globe Telecom plans to implement 5G by the second quarter of 2019. The company reports it is on course with 5G deployment as it moves forward with upgrading its network to support 5G services. Executives of Globe recently went to Shanghai, China to discuss with Huawei Deputy Chairman Eric Xu their 5G partnership and other strategies to provide internet connectivity in the Philippines. Globe plans to start offering the first 5G Globe At Home service by the second quarter of 2019.
