Google Cloud CEO steps down, succeeded by Oracle cloud executive

Google Cloud CEO Diane Greene will be stepping down from her position from January. In a blog post, Greene said she will be succeeded by former Oracle product head Thomas Kurian, who will be joining Google on 26 November. Greene will stay through January to ensure a smooth transition and remain a director on the Alphabet board. Greene began at Google in December 2015 and said the original goal had been to stay two years. She will now move into investing and philanthropy. 

Kurian stepped down from his position at Oracle in September, after first taking a leave of absence.

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, said revenues for the fourth quarter reached USD 39.276 billion, up 22 percent year-on-year or by 23 percent without currency effects. Oracle opens data centre in Toronto

Oracle opened a Toronto data centre to support in region customer demand for Oracle's public cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. By the end of 2019, the company plans to open additional regions in Australia, Europe, Japan, South Korea, India, Brazil, the Middle East, and the United States, including Virginia, Arizona, and Illinois to support public sector and Department of Defense customers. Oracle cloud chief steps down

Oracle's Thomas Kurian, in charge of expanding the company's cloud-computing business, has resigned as the company's president of product development. In a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Oracle said Kurian has stepped down to pursue other opportunities and that his duties will be reassigned to other senior executives in the development unit.

Oracle cloud executive takes leave of absence

Oracle's Thomas Kurian, in charge of expanding the company's cloud-computing business, has announced in a staff email that he will be taking "extended time off" from the company, CNBC reported. The president of product development is one of the most important executives at the company, reporting directly to CTO Larry Ellison. He joined Oracle in 1996.
