Google confirms FTC investigation
Google confirmed the US Federal Trade Commission has begun a review of its business. The company received notification of the formal investigation on 23 June and said it will cooperate with the regulator. Google said it was still unclear what exactly the FTC's concerns are; the FTC did not release a statement about the investigation. Earlier reports suggested the FTC would conduct a wide-ranging investigation, looking at the possible abuse of Google's dominant position on the online search market. The European Commission is already conducting its own investigation of Google. In its defense, Google said it's always focused on what's best for the user - and users can always choose a different service if they're not happy with Google.
