Google names VP for virtual reality
Google is forming its own dedicated division for virtual reality computing, and CEO Sundar Pichai is moving over a key deputy, Clay Bavor, to run it, multiple sources told Re/Code. Bavor, VP for product management, has run Google's apps, like Gmail, Drive and Docs. He has also overseen Google Cardboard, the company's basic virtual reality device, since its launch in 2014. Bavor is dropping apps to become VP for Virtual Reality, and the apps division will be led by SVP Diane Greene going forward. A Google spokesperson confirmed the changes, but declined to comment further.
