HP has completed its acquisition of Palm. This allows the company to grow its smartphone offering using Palm's webOS platform, along with a portfolio of intellectual property from Palm, including its Pre and Pixi smartphone product lines. Under former Palm chairman and chief executive officer Jon Rubinstein, the Palm global business unit will report to Todd Bradley, executive vice president, Personal Systems Group, HP. Palm will be responsible for webOS software development and webOS based hardware products, moving from smartphones to future slate PCs and netbooks.
