HPE shifts organisation as it bids farewell to CTO

Hewlett Packard Enterprise has announced some new organisational changes as it looks towards the completion of its Enterprise Services business spin-off in March 2017.

Martin Fink, CTO and head of Hewlett Packard Labs, will be retiring from HPE at the end of the year after more than 30 years with the company. HPE will then move Hewlett Packard Labs into the Enterprise Group under Antonio Neri. The company said the move will help align its R&D work, bring together its innovation and business roadmaps, and in particular, how it integrates key components like photonics and memristor into existing product lines. Plans to preview The Machine prototype by the end of this year remain on track.

To centralise and simplify the organisation in order to drive better sales execution, HPE will also be aligning its sales teams into a single global sales organisation within the Enterprise Group. The group will be led by Peter Ryan, currently senior VP and MD of the Enterprise Group’s EMEA region, and will also include regional and indirect sales. The company will also centralise Product Marketing, E-commerce and Customer Advocacy groups into a single marketing organization under chief marketing and communications officer Henry Gomez. Finally, the IT and Cyber Security teams will move over to COO Chris Hsu.

John Hinshaw, currently chief customer officer, will also be leaving at the end of the year.
